This is a cutting-edge diagnostic tool made by the German manufacturer Heidelberg Engineering, which is used to display the retina of the human eye. It helps in diagnosing disorders of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye, such as macular degeneration of the retina, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
The device enables the depiction of cross-sections with any arbitrarily optional orientation and density and with infrared reflectance.
The OCT unit includes a highly efficient computer, in which the pictures of the retina are stored at a very high quality.
